Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called for creation of a Asia-Africa growth corridor for the development of Africa. Mr Modi said this while inaugurating the 52nd Annual Meeting of African Development Bank at Gandhinagar in Gujarat today. He said, India is working with the United Nations and Japan to support development in Africa.
The Prime Minister also praised African countries for their response to the solar alliance initiative that was taken during the United Nations Conference on Climate Change.
Mr Modi said, India must be an engine of growth and an example in climate friendly development in the years to come. hE added that after assuming office in 2014, he made Africa a top priority for India’s foreign and economic policy. The meeting of African Development Bank is a five day event that will witness about 3,000 delegates from 81 member countries.
