Parliamentarians Pay Tributes to Indira Gandhi on Birth Anniversary

Union Minister of Home Affairs Mr Raj Nath Singh; Former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh; Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mr Ghulam Nabi Azad; Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs & Statistics and Programme Implementation Mr Vijay Goel; Former Deputy Prime Minister and Chairperson, Ethics Committee (Lok Sabha), Mr L. K. Advani; Chairperson, Departmentally Related Parliamentary Standing Committee on Human Resource Development (Rajya Sabha) Dr. Satyanarayan Jatiya; Chairperson of the Indian National Congress Party & Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) Mr Rahul Gandhi; Smt. Sonia Gandhi, Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha); Members of Parliament and former Members of Parliament paid floral tributes to Smt. Indira Gandhi in the Central Hall of Parliament House on her birth anniversary today.

The Secretaries-General of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, Smt. Snehlata Shrivastava and Mr Desh Deepak Verma, respectively also paid floral tributes.

A booklet containing the profile of Smt. Indira Gandhi, brought out in Hindi and English by the Lok Sabha Secretariat, was presented to the dignitaries who attended the function.

The portrait of Smt. Indira Gandhi was unveiled by the then President of India, Mr R. Venkataraman, in the Central Hall of Parliament House on 19 November 1987.
