Pakistan resorts to heavy firing and shelling along LoC in J&K



In yet another incident of ceasefire violation, Pakistani troops today resorted to heavy firing and shelling along the Line of Control in Mendhar sector of Poonch district in Jammu and Kashmir.

A 40-year old woman was killed when mortar shells fired from across the border exploded at Gohlad Kalran village.

A defence spokesperson said, Pakistani troops from across the Line of Control started unprovoked firing and shelling targeting Indian positions and civilian areas around 5 this morning.

Indian Army personnel guarding the border posts retaliated strongly and effectively. The exchange of fire continued till 7:30 AM.
