Four Army officers and two civilians have been killed in a suicide blast targeting a census team at Lahore. 19 people were injured in the blast.
Two of them are said to be in a critical condition. Security sources said, the blast occurred on Bedian Road in the wee hours today. The explosion led to a fire that engulfed the cars parked nearby.
Security forces have cordoned off the area and launched a search operation. No group has claimed responsibility for the bombing, so far.
Teams of enumerators backed by the military and security forces are carrying out Pakistan’s first census in almost two decades, an enormous and highly charged task that could redraw the country’s political map one year before general elections.
