Dr. Walia said while inaugurating two Primary Urban Health centres in Kirari assembly constituency today. He was accompanied by the local MLA Shri Anil Jha, Dy. Commissioner (Revenue), Director Health services and other officers from Health department.
He stated that the city government was going to open a new 200 bedded hospital at Jwalapuri. In addition a new medical college will be opened in Baba Saheb Ambedkar hospital at Rohini. Sanjay Gandhi Hospital at Mangol Puri is going to be a 500 bedded hospital with the addition of 300 more beds. He also said that soon 150 more beds are going to be added in Maharishi Valmiki hospital at Pooth Khurd. Besides two more PUHC and a maternity centre at Nithari village will be opened in Kirari area.
Dr. Walia said that there will be no dearth of money in developmental works in localities of Kirari. The Government is committed to develop all parts of the Capital city. North West District is the largest District of Delhi having 440 sq. km. area and approximately 45 lacs estimated population.
To meet the health related need of this district, Govt. of Delhi is running dispensaries to fulfil the basic health needs of the population. At present 45 Delhi Govt. Dispensaries, 4 PUHC and 25 MCW centres are covering the district population. Still people go far off area for taking treatment or go to Hospitals and increase the rush of patients for common health problems in hospital. To meet out the regular health needs of the public of this area, some part is being covered by the Mobile Health Vans. Still the area has been identified as the underserved area for the health delivery. And in continuation of this effort two more centres were opened.
