Few newspapers have published today due to Holi Holiday. All eyes are on ministry formation in the five states that went to the polls. “BJP picks Parrikar for Goa,” is the lead in Hindustan Times whereas The Hindu says, “Goa: Congress knocks on SC’s door.”
“BJP’s Biren Singh stakes claim to form government in Manipur,” reports The Hindu. The paper opines “In Uttarakhand BJP may try a new face.”
“RSS meet in Tamil Nadu to chalk out future plans,” reports the Hindu. “RSS bigwigs will take part in a crucial three-day meet from March 19,” following the BJP’s impressive win.
“Markets may hit new highs on poll results,” say analysts reports Hindustan Times. “Some experts however warned that investors should not get carried away given the shaky micro economic backdrop, poor earnings growth and a likely rate increase by the US Federal Reserve later this week.”
“Indians have no reason to fear under Trump presidency,” The Hindu quotes Shalabh Kumar, founder of the Republic Hindu Coalition in America, who adds that “the President’s chief strategist, Stephen Bannon, will play an important role in US relations with India.”
“Merkel, Trump to meet today amid growing tension,” reports Hindustan Times adding that the two leaders “have been engaged in an uneasy skirmish over policy, values.”
“Scotland’s surprise,” reports Hindustan Times. First minister, Nicola Sturgeon, will seek authority to hold a new independence referendum in the next two years because Britain is dragging Scotland out of EU against its will.
