Newly formed National Testing Agency, NTA will now conduct national-level examinations including NET, NEET and JEE (Mains). These exams are currently organised by Central Board of Secondary Education.
National Eligibility Test (NET) will be conducted in December and JEE (Mains) twice a year in January and April and NEET in February and May.
The students can appear both the times in NEET and the best of the two scores will be taken into account for admission.
The NEET is conducted for admissions to medical institutions across the country. The NTA will also conduct National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) and Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test (GPAT) once in a year.
Announcing this in New Delhi today, Human Resource Development Minister Prakash Javadekar said, all the exams will be computer-based and held over a span of four to five days.
The students will have the option of choosing the dates. He said, with the new system the examinations will be more secure and at par with international norms and there will be no issues of leakage.
The Minister added that the syllabus, question formats, language and fees for the exams will not be changed.
