Nita and Mukesh Ambani’s elder son -Akash — got engaged to his schoolmate Shloka Mehta in Goa on Saturday, March 25.

Shloka is the daughter of Mona and Russell Mehta. Her dad is the managing director of Rosy Blue Diamonds.

Akash and Shloka exchanged rings in a private ceremony in Goa, then the family visited Mumbai’s Siddhivinayak temple on Sunday to seek Lord Ganesha’s blessings.

The Ambanis hosted a party at Antilia, their Mumbai home, and their starry friends came over to congratulate the young couple.

Nita Ambani had confirmed that the marriage is on the cards soon. “I have known Shloka since she was four and we are all delighted to welcome her to our home and our hearts,” she said.

The Ambanis and Mehtas know each other well and Akash and Shloka studied together at the Dhirubhai Ambani International School (DAIS) in Mumbai.

Shloka, who after finishing schooling at Dhirubhai Ambani International School in 2009 went on to study anthropology at Princeton University and did her masters in law at the London School of Economics and Political Science, is a director on Rosy Blue Foundation since July 2014. She is also a co-founder of ConnectFor, which matches volunteers with NGOs that need them. She is the youngest of three children of Russell and Mona Mehta.

On Sunday evening, Mukesh, along with his wife Nita and other family members joined Akash and Shloka to visit the Siddhivinayak temple in Mumbai.
