Ahead of IPL 2018 that kick starts on Saturday, defending champion Mumbai Indians, MI have hailed the introduction of the Decision Review System and a mid-season transfer window in the tournament. Addressing a press conference in Mumbai today, MI’s coach Mahela Jayawardene said, a football-style mid-season transfer window in is a great option and an evolution of the franchise model going forward.
MI Captain Rohit Sharma said, the transfer window will give the teams an opportunity to see what they need in the squad and other teams will also be looking at what players they can get.
However, this window would only be open for uncapped players and those who have played no more than two matches till the halfway stage of the tournament. The transfer will be open for roughly five days.
On Decision Review System, the MI coach said, it is there in the international cricket, it is a plus for the tournament and when mistakes happen it serves as a helping hand. He said, these systems will be good learning experience for young players in the season.
