Man carrying explosives killed at checkpoint in Bangladesh

A suspected militant in Bangladesh, was killed in police firing when he tried to penetrate a police check-post on a motorcycle armed with explosives in Khilgaon area of Dhaka early today. Two members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) were also injured in the cross-firing incident. The incident came a day after a suicide bomber blew himself up right inside RAB’s barracks in Ashkhona area of Dhaka.

Meanwhile all prisons across the country have been put on high alert while security has been stepped up at all domestic and international airports. Dhaka Metropolitan Police Chief AKM Shahidul Hoque and RAB Chief Benazie Ahmed visited the sites of both incidents.

Earlier on Thursday, the police had burst 2 terrorist dens in Sitakunda area of Chittagong in which 4 Neo-JMB terrorists including a woman were killed. A huge cache of arms and ammunition including grenades and bomb-making material was recovered from the hideouts.
