Maha Navami celebrated in different parts of country

Maha Navami is being celebrated today with gaiety and fervour in different parts of the country.

In the eastern and northeastern states, Durga Puja is synonymous with Navratri, wherein goddess Durga battles and emerges victorious over the buffalo demon to help restore Dharma.

In the northern and western states, the festival is synonymous with “Rama Lila” and Dussehra that celebrates the victory of god Rama over the demon king Ravana.

In West Bengal and Assam people of all castes and creeds throng puja mandaps on the occasion of Maha Navami, the penultimate day of the Duga Puja festival.
