Kerala priest Tom Uzhunnalil was abducted in Yemen, released

Abducted Christian priest from Kerala Father Tom Uzhunnalil who had been abducted in war torn Yemen has been released.

“I am happy to inform that Father Tom Uzhunnalil has been rescued,” External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj said in a tweet.

Father Tom Uzhunnalil, who was abducted in April 2016 from Aden, was earlier this year stated to have been “alive” by the Yemen Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulmalik Abduljalil Al-Mekhlafi during his visit to India.

“In compliance with the His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said, Oman in coordination with the Yemeni parties have managed find the priest.

According to reports he has been sent to Muscat, from where he will come to India.
