35th India International Trade Fair comes to an end

Concerned over slowing global demand and declining exports Finance Minister Arun Jaitley Friday underlined the need for creating an ecosystem to boost shipments to the markets overseas. Speaking at the closing ceremony of 35th India International Trade Fair in New Delhi, he asked exporters to produce quality products at competitive prices to meet the challenge of slowing demand in international markets.
Finance Minister said the global experience now teaches that the world wants to buy good products. He said world wants to buy cheaper products and therefore Manufacture have to think ahead of the others to make products which are cost and quality competitive. Mr. Jaitley said the glaring challenge is to step up shipments at a time when the world trade was getting compressed. He said purchasing capacity of global buyer is contracting. Finance Minister said trade fairs are going to help boost trade activities.
Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Nirmala Sitharaman complimented India Trade Promotion Organisation ITPO for further extending the Make in India campaign through this event.
ITPO Chairman and Managing Director L.C. Goyal announced the Digital India would be the theme for next trade fair.
35th edition of the India International Trade Fair, One of the biggest business events in South Asian region today concluded with an award presentation ceremony at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi.
This year the top honour of the Gold Medal was presented to Kerala and Silver Medal won by Madhya Pradesh in the State Pavilions and Union Territories. While Assam was conferred the Gold Medal in North East States category. In the Swachh Bharat category Bihar received the Gold Medal.
Republic of South Africa received the Gold Medal, South korea won the Silver and Arab Republic of Egypt achieved the Jury commendation in the foreign participation. The National Building Construction Corporation NBCC bagged the Gold Medal, and Reserve Bank of India RBI the Silver. Ministry of Power won Gold in Ministries and Departments category.
In the private sector Okaya Power was conferred the Gold medal. Food outlets were also honoured for state cuisines. Kerala received the Gold Medal. Fortnight long fair witnessed about 18 lakh footfalls.
