Irani inaugurates National Media Development Centre at IIMC


Union minister for Information and Broadcasting Smriti Irani on Friday inaugurated the National Media Faculty Development Centre at the Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) in New Delhi.

The new centre will train media educators across the country on the latest developments in the discipline including in technology and content.

Union Minister Smriti Irani also presented awards and certificates to 24 Development Journalism students from 16 developing countries. Speaking on the occasion, the minister asked the IIMC administration to institute a scholarship award in the name of Deen Dayal Upadhyay for meritorious Indian students who especially work on Development Journalism.

IIMC conducts this course for mid-career journalists from Non-aligned and Developing Countries.
