In IPL Cricket, Defending champions Mumbai Indians failed to reach fourth and final play off place after being trounced by hosts Delhi Daredevils by 11 runs today. Chasing a target of 175 runs, Mumbai were bundled out for 163 runs in 19.3 overs.
Earlier, opting to bat, Delhi posted 174 for four in stipulated 20 overs. Wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant was the highest scorer scoring 64 in 44 balls.
Today is the last day of the league matches that will determine which team fills the fourth and final play-off place.
Now all hopes are pinned on the final league match between Chennai Super Kings and Kings XI Punjab, underway in Pune. Put into bat, Punjab were 132 for 7 in over against Chennai Super Kings a shortwhile ago.
Sunrisers Hyderabad, Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders have already made it to the play-offs, and only one team either Rajasthan Royals or Kings Eleven Punjab is eligible to progress. Punjab will not only have to win the contest but also better the net run rate of Rajasthan Royals
