Aleppo assault could cut off 300,000 civilians; UN warns

The government, backed by Russian air strikes, is closing in on the rebels in Aleppo and the UN warns 300,000 people could be cut off from aid if the government forces encircles them. At the same time, the health system of these people rely on is steadily being crippled.

Dr Hasan Nairabani, the head of paediatric medicine in the Syrian city told that health facilities were already stretched to breaking point. He says children suffering horrific injuries. But he warned their health was also being undermined in another, more insidious, way. The cases of malnutrition will only worsen as the conflict intensifies.
