Intercaste marriages only way to end caste system: Athawale

TIA NEWS /

athawleUnion Minister of State for Social Justice & Empowerment Ramdas Athawale has said that the caste system in the country can be annihilated through inter-caste marriages.

Talking to media in Hyderabad today he said the Ambedkar Foundation is offering an incentive of 2 lakh 50 thousand rupees to those couple who undergo intercaste marriages and there is a proposal to enhance the amount.

Mr Athawale stated that he supports the reservation demand for Marathas, Jats and Patels in educational institutions and employment without disturbing the quota of OBC reservations.

He said, his party Republican Party of India is in favour of smaller states in the country and the separate state demand for Vidarbha is very reasonable and stressed the need for bifurcation Uttar Pradesh into two more states such as Poorvanchal and Harita Pradesh.
