India have retained its top position in the latest ICC Test rankings, released today. With 123 points, Kohli led side is six points ahead over the second placed South Africa.
India has gained one ranking point while South Africa has leaped from 109 to 117 points to reduce the gap to six points with the number one side. 23 points seperate India and Australia who are at the third position.
England has stayed in fourth position followed by New Zealand at 5th, Pakistan at 6th, Sri Lanka at 7th, West Indies at 8th and Bangladesh at 9th.
In recent matches, India registered series wins against West Indies when they visited the Caribbean last year while thumped New Zealand, England and Australia in home series.
Kohli’s side also defeated Bangladesh in a one-off Test match. Out of the 13 matches that they played on the home turf, India registered wins in 10 matches, lost 2 and one ended in a draw.
