IAF douses fire at south Delhi’s Malviya Nagar

The Indian Air Force through its Bambi Bucket operation helped in containing a major fire-break out in a rubber godown in south Delhi’s Malviya Nagar area. A dense smoke came out from a truck and a godown in Khirki Extension area last night, causing panic among locals. In a statement, Indian Air Force said, around midnight request was received for containing a fire at Malviya Nagar.
The helicopter filled water from Yamuna reservoir and dropped over the fire site. This had to be repeated thrice to contain the fire. It said, this was the first time the Bambi operation was done in an urban situation wherein the chances of collateral damage is high. Delhi Police has detained the owner of the godown.
