The Human Resource Development Ministry has decided to reduce the NCERT syllabus by half as it is ‘cramped’. Talking to MEDIA here today, HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar said alongside studies, a child needs physical education, life skills and value-based education.
The Minister said the draft of a new National Education Policy will be tabled before the Union Cabinet by the end of this month.
He said, the proposed amendment to the Right to Education Act, is expected to be tabled before Parliament in July.This reviews the no-detention policy and empowers states to conduct examinations for Class 5 and 8 students.
