The reservation stir of Gujjars has paralyzed rail traffic in Rajasthan. More than hundred trains have been cancelled or diverted. The North Western Railway alone has suffered a loss of 22 lakh rupees in a single day following disruption of train services. Thousands of passengers are stranded at railway stations. Cold wave conditions have added to their woes. Bus services at many places in eastern Rajasthan including Jaipur-Agra national highway also remain suspended.
Meanwhile, the state government has sent three senior Principal Secretary level officers to Bayana to initiate talks with Gujjar leader Col. Kirodi Singh Bainsla. Some Gujjar leaders from Congress party also met the Chief Minister in Jaipur today and suggested to him to submit the quantifiable data justifying reservation to Special Backward Classes within three months in the High Court.
