Government Wednesday criticised Congress for its dissent note in Select Committee report on GST Bill and accused it of being anti- development. Talking to reporters outside Parliament, Finance Minister Arun Jaitely said Congress dissent note is against its own bill and and hoped the opposition party will reconsider its what he called irresponsible decision. Mr. Jaitley said it was the suggestion of Congress ruled states to keep alcohol out of the GST but now their leaders are opposing it. He said Centre will go ahead with the GST legislation in Parliament as it will bring single taxation system in the country.
Expressing the hope that the opposition party will think again over its decision on dissent note, the Minister said the government will try to build a consensus on the legislation.
