Chandigarh’s Hunar Mittal emerged the overall winner of the IIFL Wealth-Faldo Series India junior Golf Invitational Championship at the Jaypee Greens here on Friday.
Overnight leader in the girls combined section, Hunar had the better final day score to edge out Secundrabad’s Milind Soni. The two finished tied on 2-over 182 with Hunar declared winner on the basis of her 1-under par card on Friday. Milind was 1-over 73 for the day to top the boys Under-16 category.
The Chandigarh teenager also won the girls Under-16 title for her overall 2-over score.
Smriti Bhargav of Delhi, who also carded a 1-under 71 on Friday was declared winner of the Under-21 girls category. Other winners were Yuvraj Singh
of Kapurthala in the boys Under-21s and All-India Amateur champion Aryan Roopa Anand in the boys Under-18 event.
All five winners now travel to Vietnam to play the Faldo Series Asia (FSA) finals at Laguna Lang Co between March 4 and 6, 2020.
Womens national champion Sneha Singh of Hyderabad was runner-up in the girls Under-16s while Avni Ptashanth of Bengaluru was declared runner-up in the girls U-21 group.
In the three boys categories, Vedant Sirohi of xxx finished second in the U-16 section, Chandigarh’s Bishmad Pal Singh Seerha was the U-18 runner-up and Arjun Rana of Gurugram the U-21 silver medallist.
The first day was reduced to nine holes due to inclement weather, with titles decided on the basis of scores over 45 holes.
