Electioneering is gathering momentum in Puducherry with 11 more persons filing nominations today. This include five nominations in Karaikal and one in Yanam region.
The ruling NR Congress (AINRC) has neither announced its candidates nor have launched its campaign for the Assembly polls so far. As all other parties has declared their candidates, AINRC is left to face the elections alone.
With only three days remaining for filing of nominations, Chief Minister N Rangasamy is under immense pressure to declare his party’s candidates.
Election Commission’s decision to scrap the appointments made by the Government has been a set back to the ruling party. But AINRC leaders are upbeat as they feel that people are content with the welfare programmes and pensions introduced by their Government.
