The Delhi Minister of Social Welfare, Women & Child Development, Prof. Kiran Walia inaugurated the facilitation camp and distributed 63 Disability certificates to the students seeking admission in different courses / classes in the colleges and universities in Delhi under single window. This is the first time when such a camp to facilitate the handicapped students at one place has been organized.
Prof. Walia while distributing the disability certificates said that the Department of Social Welfare has understood the problems of the disabled students and got amended the notification for the purpose of issuance of the certificates of the disability, specifying single window at Hindu Rao Hospital to avail this facility to the needy students. Earlier to this, Zone-wise certificates were used to issue by different hospitals causing a lot of difficulties to the students seeking disability certificates for their admission.
As many as 15 Doctors of different disciplines appointed as Authorities for issuing such a certificates were posted at Hindu Rao Hospital for different 09 categories to issue disability certificates. The two days camp will culminate on evening of 7th June, 2011. It is learnt that University of Delhi has about 600 vacancies reserved for disabled students in different disciplines and for which certificates could be availed from the Facilitation Centre.
The Medical Superintendent of Hindu Rao Hospital, Dr. J.N. Balwalikar, the officers from the department of E.O.C., Delhi University, and Social Welfare Department, were also present on this occasion.
