Union Tourism minister Dr Mahesh Sharma today said the Indian tourism industry is resilient and demonetization had no effect on it, but it grew instead. Speaking on the occasion of releasing Free Preloaded SIM card for E-Visa tourists, he said, the digital economy and e-payments are boosters to tourism industry.
The preloaded SIM card would be given to every E-visa tourist immediately after landing at the immigration counter at the airports. The free SIMs come with 50 rupee talk time and 50 mb free data enabling the tourists to talk immediately after landing.
The facility of 24X7 helpline has also been instituted to provide information in time to foreign tourists. The helpline is available in 12 foreign languages. The facility currently being provided only to E-Visa tourists would be extended to other Visa holders as well. The Delhi airport has started the facility, other airports in the country would follow suit at the earliest.
