Sanitation workers of East Delhi Municipal Corporation have called off their strike following assurance of pending salaries to be paid within three days. Talking to AIR, Mayor of Corporation, Harsh Deep Malhotra said, after the assurance sanitation workers has agreed to resume work.
Nearly 12,000 sanitation workers had been on strike due to non payment of salaries. Earlier in the day, Delhi Lieutenant Governer Najeeb Jung informed the three municipal corporations that, Delhi government will release 493 crores rupees for the payment of salaries of sanitation workers. Mr Jung had also appealed the workers to call off the strike.
