Delhi Govt. wants to know transfer, posting policy of Delhi Police

Delhi government has written a letter to the Delhi Police Commissioner BS Bassi demanding copy of transfer and posting policy of the Delhi Police. In its letter, the government has sought information about the officers serving in their present posts despite having completed their tenures according to the policy.

Besides, it has also sought information regarding status of implementation of Supreme Court judgment in 2006 on police reforms. An official release said, the information has been sought on the basis of notification issued by the President in 1998. According to the notification, Lieutenant Governor of Delhi has to exercise his powers with respect to Police in consultation with the Chief Minister. The government has also demanded to provide a list of dark spots considered vulnerable for women so that CCTV cameras installation can be started.
