Mr Chauhan said that the Barapulla elevated road proved boon during the commonwealth games 2010 and its getting popular among the Delhiites day by day. Presently 60000 vehicles use this road everyday, as it helps in saving time and fuel. According to an estimate this road has helped in saving fuel worth Rs 100 crores yearly. Officers stated that soon two slip roads will be ready for use which will connect Moolchand and Nizamuddin.
The minister stated that the road will be extended to INA Market in the second phase with more loops and slip roads, which will help decongestion of Ring road. He also said that the government is mulling to connect Mayur Vihar with Barapulla, so that commuting between East and South/New Delhi will become easier.
He asked the status of work relating to proposed Signal free road from Janak Puri to Wazirabad. He was briefed that the project has been approved by UTTIPEC and is under consideration of DUAC. Work will be soon started after completing all the required formalities. Three Elevated roads will connect Janak Puri District centre to Meera Bagh, Mangol Puri to Deepali Chowk and Power house crossing to Badli. Three flyovers will be constructed near Bhalaswa, Mukundpur and Burari crossings. Construction of several FOBs is also proposed between this stretch, Besides, a new 6 lane road is also proposed on the other side of the drain from Muqarba chowk to Wazirabad. This will help reducing highway and urban traffic on outer ring road.
