Bihar: 7 policemen, one Naxal killed in road accident in Sitamarhi

Seven policemen and a Naxal were killed when a prison van dashed into a truck in Sitamarhi district of Bihar in the wee hours today. Deputy Superintendent of Police (Town), Ashish Anand told media that the accident happened near Gaighat village of Runnisaidpur police station.

The DSP said, the prison van was carrying two hardcore Naxals from Bhagalpur to Sitamarhi court. Twelve policemen were also in the van. Mr Anand said, while four policemen died on the spot, the Naxal and three other policemen died on the way to Hospital in Muzaffarpur. He said, all injured policemen and the seriously injured Naxal were later shifted to a hospital.
