Assam flood situation deteriorates


The flood situation continued to deteriorate in Assam, today with water spreadingto new areas and affecting over 51,000 people across seven districts.

TheAssam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) said in Guwahati today that51,400 people in 85 villages are hit by the deluge at present in Dhemaji,Lakhimpur, Sonitpur, Nalbari, Barpeta, Chirang and Majuli districts.

Currently,Brahmaputra river at Nimatighat in Jorhat and Tezpur in Sonitpur, and JiaBharali river at NT Road Crossing in Sonitpurare are flowing above the dangermark.
