Assam CM orders high-level probe into case of mob-lynching

Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has ordered a high-level enquiry into a case related to the mob-lynching of two men on suspicion of being child lifters in Karbi Anglong district. He assured strongest action against culprits involved in the incident.

The Chief Minister has appealed to people to remain calm and not to listen to rumour mongers. People and civil society organizations have condemned the brutal killings and demanded action against the culprits.

Two men were lynched by a mob who suspected them to be child lifters at Panjuri Kachari village under Dokmoka police station on Friday.

Meanwhile, state police has arrested 16 people for their alleged involvement in the case.
