5 crore gas connections distributed: Govt



The government has announced that it has distributed cooking gas connection to five crore beneficiary of the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana in 27 months ahead of 36 months deadline.

Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan handed over the gas connection to the fifth crore beneficiary of the scheme, Mrs Takdiran of Delhi at a function in Parliament House today.

Speaking on the occasion, Mrs Mahajan said, making a scheme, implementing it and achieving the target is a remarkable thing.

Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, in his address, said the scheme reflects the commitment of the government towards the poor and the downtrodden.
