Textile Ministry has said over 11 lakh 86 thousand bank accounts have been opened and activated for textile workers, which includes 17 thousand jute workers.
In a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha, Textiles Minister Smriti Irani today said, government has launched a special drive for opening of bank accounts and promotion of digital payments in the textiles sector.
She said, for weavers and artisans of handloom and handicraft sectors, more than one thousand 912 camps were organized and over six lakh bank accounts have been opened by the participants of these camps.
